Christmas Old Fashioned
The Christmas Old Fashioned is a festive twist on the classic whiskey cocktail. With Allspice Dram and cinnamon, this drink is sure to please during the holiday season!

Equipment
- Strainer
- Vegetable peeler (if you are adding the orange peel garnish)
Ingredients
Cocktail
- 1¾ ounces Maker’s Mark Bourbon (or your favorite bourbon)
- ¼ ounce Allspice Dram
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon syrup (see notes)
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
- 1 dash Orange Bitters
Garnish
- 1 piece orange peel (optional)
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
- 1 whole star anise (optional)
Instructions
- Add the bourbon, Allspice Dram, cinnamon syrup, and both bitters to a cocktail mixing glass.
- Fill the glass with ice and use your bar spoon to stir everything for about 30 seconds.
- Add a large piece of ice to your serving glass (or a few smaller cubes if you don't have a large one).
- Strain the drink into the serving glass.
- Squeeze your orange peel over top of the glass to release the orange oils onto the drink, and add the peel into the glass as a garnish.
- Garnish with the cinnamon stick and star anise, and serve.
Notes
- You can use store bought cinnamon syrup, or make your own (see my easy Cinnamon Syrup recipe).
- This drink is best served with a large ice cube or ice sphere, instead of small cubes. I love using this clear ice sphere maker to make the best ice!
