Add the pumpkin spice syrup, coffee liqueur, vanilla vodka and espresso to a cocktail shaker.
Add ice to the shaker and shake really well for about 20-25 times.
Hold a fine mesh strainer over top of your serving glass, and double strain the drink into the glass. (This means use a regular strainer plus the fine mesh at the same time.)
Wait a minute as the bubbles in the liquid rise to the top and form a foamy layer.
Float three coffee beans on top of the foamy layer, and then balance a whole star anise onto the rim of the glass. Serve and enjoy!

If you don't want to make homemade Pumpkin Spice syrup, a great store bought version is Pumpkin Reàl pumpkin puree syrup, or HipStirs pumpkin spice syrup is another one to try. Both are made with real pumpkin.
