The Jack Frost Cocktail is a delicious, festive and beautiful winter cocktail! I love the bright blue color of this one -- it's definitely a showstopper! With the added touch of dried coconut on the glass rim, it really gives this drink a snowy kind of feel. Perfect for the holiday season!

This is such a great wintry drink and definitely a hit at Christmas parties! It's surprisingly easy to make, too. It has a lot of coconut flavor and it is really frosty and refreshing!

Looking for some more delicious winter drinks? The gorgeous White Christmas Margarita is always a hit! The beautiful purple-colored Snowy Day is a great gin cocktail for wintertime, or the creamy Candy Cane Martini is perfect for any Christmas celebration.

    About the Jack Frost Cocktail

This frosty drink gets its beautiful color from Blue Curacao liqueur, an orange-flavored liqueur that's a brilliant blue.

When it mixes with cream of coconut, the result is a bright milky blue color that always reminds me of snow and snowflakes!

To keep the flavor bright, adding in some lime and white cranberry juice really brings in the flavors of the season.

    Ingredients

You'll only need a handful of ingredients for this, plus some optional garnishes!

First, of course, the liquor! You'll need some vodka, and of course Blue Curacao liqueur to bring in the blue color. (Drillaud Blue Curacao liqueur and Bols Blue Curaçao are widely available brands.)

You'll also need cream of coconut. Not to be confused with coconut cream, this ingredient is really a coconut syrup. I recommend Coco Real Cream of Coconut, or Liquid Alchemist coconut syrup.

Next is lime juice and white cranberry juice. If you have a hard time finding white cranberry juice, you can try using white grape juice or apple juice (you just may need to add some extra lime juice to cut the sweetness).

For the garnishes, have some dried shredded coconut ready to add to the rim. And if you're really going for a little pizzaz, grab some Brew Glitter edible glitter spray to add to the top!

Ingredients to make a Jack Frost cocktail together on a countertop.

    Equipment

You'll need some bar basics to make this drink. Grab a cocktail shaker, strainer, and jigger to get everything measured and mixed.

For your cocktail glass, I find a stemless wine glass works really well. You can also use a spritz type of glass, a stemmed red wine glass or a tumbler.

If you're using the shredded coconut, just have a small dish ready so you can dip in the rim of the glass.

Note: I really love the products from A Bar Above if you need some new bar tools! You can get 10% off using my discount code, LKDrinks. Their sets make great gifts too!

    Instructions

Start out by (optionally) adding the dried shredded coconut to the rim of the glass. Wet the glass rim using either a cut lime or water, and then dip it into your dish of coconut, turning the glass so it gets coated all around.

Set the glass aside while you make the drink.

Start making the drink by adding the lime juice and Blue Curacao.

Hand adding lime juice to a cocktail shaker.
Hand adding Blue Curacao liqueur to a cocktail shaker.

Then, add in the cream of coconut, and the white cranberry juice.

Hand adding cream of coconut to a cocktail shaker filled with blue liquid.
Hand adding white cranberry juice to a cocktail shaker.

Finally, add in the vodka. Fill the shaker with ice, seal it up and then shake vigorously. You'll want to make sure everything is really mixed together, so shake it up about 15-20 times.

Hand adding vodka to a cocktail shaker.
Hands shaking up a bright blue cocktail.

Fill your serving glass with ice, and strain the drink into the glass.

For some extra glitz, sprinkle or spray on some edible glitter just before serving!

Hand straining a bright blue cocktail into a cocktail glass filled with nugget ice.
Hand using a pump bottle to add edible glitter to the top of a bright blue drink.

Hint: To help keep the drink frosty for longer, try to chill your serving glass for at least a half hour beforehand.

    Top tip - Nugget Ice

I used nugget ice for this drink, which I definitely recommend! It keeps the drink super frosty and looks great.

You can actually buy this type of ice if you can find a Sonic restaurant near you! If you prefer to make it at home like me, this Silonn Nugget Ice Maker is my favorite budget option.

If you want to really splurge, go for a GE Opal nugget ice maker. It's more expensive because it stores the ice as well as making the cubes.

Of course, you can always crush the ice instead of using the small cubes. Just grab an ice mallet and Lewis bag for a great holiday stress reliever 🙂
