Mango Hibiscus Mocktail on a countertop in a gold rimmed cocktail glass. The drink is garnished with dried hibiscus petals and a fresh mango.

    Ingredients

This is a really simple drink, with only four ingredients (plus optional garnishes)!

You'll need some hibiscus tea, which I made using hibiscus tea bags. You'll also need some mango puree syrup. (You can also use my homemade Mango Nectar recipe in place of the syrup.)

Lemon juice (preferably freshly squeezed) and ginger beer round out the list of ingredients!

For the optional garnish, I used a slice of fresh mango and also crumbled some dried Maui hibiscus flowers on top (not pictured). You can also use a fresh hibiscus flower if you have one available!

    Variations and Substitutions

Don't have hibiscus tea? You can try using a raspberry tea in its place.

For the ginger beer, you can use a plain or citrus seltzer instead. Or, use a lemon-lime soda.

If you want to reduce the sugar in this drink, you can try using a sugar free mango syrup in place of the regular syrup. You can also sub in Remedy sugar free ginger beer.

For a cocktail version of this drink, I definitely recommend rum to go with the tropical flavors! Vodka or tequila would also both work really well in this drink. Just add a shot of your spirit before adding the ginger beer.

    Equipment

Since this drink is made in the glass, you don't need much in terms of equipment! For the glass, you can use a wine glass or a tumbler. I used a glass similar to these vintage goblet style cocktail glasses.

Besides the glass, you'll mostly just need a spoon to stir the drink, a jigger, and a knife and cutting board for prepping the fresh fruit.

    Instructions

Start out by adding your lemon juice and the mango syrup to your glass.

Hand adding lemon juice to a cocktail glass.
Hand adding mango syrup to a cocktail glass.

Add in the hibiscus tea, and then fill your glass with ice.

Hand pouring hibiscus tea into a cocktail glass that has mango syrup in it.
Hand adding ice to a cocktail glass using an ice scoop.

Give everything a stir to make sure the mango syrup mixes in with the other ingredients.

Then, top it off with ginger beer. You can give it another gentle stir just to combine everything.

Hand using a bar spoon to stir an orange colored cocktail.
Hand pouring ginger beer into a cocktail glass filled with ice and orange liquid.

Add your mango and dried hibiscus flowers as garnish, and serve!

Hand adding a mango garnish to the top of an orange colored cocktail.
Hand sprinkling dried hibiscus petals onto the top of an orange colored drink with a mango garnish.

Hint: If you can, try to chill your serving glass for about 30 minutes before making the drink. Also, definitely chill your hibiscus tea, or at least get it to room temperature before mixing it in!
