I love the combination of pomegranate and lemon in a drink! This refreshing Pomegranate Spritzer Mocktail brings those flavors together in a tasty non-alcoholic sip. It's so delicious, and perfect for anything from Dry January to Sober October and beyond.

Mocktails are delicious anytime of year, but this one tastes even better in the summertime. Like a spritz cocktail, this one has a lot of fizzy flavor and would be great in hot weather.

    Ingredients

You'll only need four main ingredients to make this drink! The star of the show, of course, is the pomegranate juice. I used POM Wonderful brand juice, which is a great option if you don't have fresh juice.

Next, for some sweetness and a tangy flavor, I used elderflower syrup. My favorite is d'arbo Elderflower Syrup, which is available on Amazon.

The other two ingredients are lemon juice and seltzer. I used fresh lemon juice here, which I definitely recommend! I also used flavored lime seltzer, which you can use or go for a plain seltzer.

For the garnish, you can use a slice of your lemon and a fresh mint sprig if you have one.

    Substitutions

If you don't have pomegranate juice, you can use anything from cranberry juice to currant juice. (You may need to omit the lemon if you use cranberry.) You can even use orange juice or apple juice in a pinch.

For the elderflower syrup, if you can't find it, you can substitute with plain simple syrup or maple syrup. You may need to add a little extra lemon if you make this swap. Or, try using grenadine syrup for even more pomegranate flavor.

Note: If you'd like to make this drink into a cocktail, it's super easy! Just add in a shot of vodka, gin or tequila along with the pomegranate juice.

    Equipment

You'll just need a couple of simple bar tools for this drink, since we are mixing it in the serving glass. For the glass itself, get something that has a pretty large capacity, preferably a large spritz-style wine glass.

To measure the drink, grab a jigger, and a bar spoon will also come in handy to stir things up.

    Instructions

To make the drink, start out by preparing your garnishes. Here, I made a slice of the lemon to set aside before juicing it.

Next, add the lemon juice to the serving glass.

    Hands cutting a lemon slice.
Hand pouring lemon juice into a cocktail glass.

Then, add the elderflower syrup to the glass, followed by the pomegranate juice.

Hand pouring pomegranate juice into a glass.

Fill the glass up with ice and give everything a stir to make sure the syrup is dissolved and everything is mixed together.

Hand adding ice to a large wine glass.
Hand stirring a glass filed with ice and dark red liquid.

Fill the glass with seltzer and then give everything a gentle stir just so it comes together nicely.

Add your lemon peel and mint garnishes, and serve!

Hand adding a lemon slice garnish to a spritz glass.
Hand adding a mint sprig to a spritz glass.

Hint: Clap the mint between your hands before adding it to the glass to release the minty aroma just before serving.
