What is a Spritz Cocktail?
A Spritz cocktail is a light and refreshing summer cocktail! It all started out in Italy, where the heat of the summer months made drinkers thirsty for something refreshing.
Spritzes are typically made using a flavorful liqueur along with bubbly Prosecco and a splash of seltzer water.
Probably the most popular spritz, the Aperol Spritz, uses just three ingredients: Aperol liqueur, Prosecco and seltzer. As you'll see, it's a winning drink combination and can be made using just about any liqueur you can think of.
Simple Spritz Recipes
The Amaro Spritz recipe shows you the basic building blocks of a spritz cocktail, with the 3-2-1 ratio of Prosecco, liqueur and seltzer.
The Hugo Spritz is another hugely popular summer cocktail. It follows the same basic formula as the Amaro Spritz, but uses elderflower liqueur instead of an amaro.
If you're a lemon lover, this Limoncello Spritz will be right up your alley! Limoncello, Prosecco and club soda is a winning combination.
Lillet Blanc is a wine-based aperitif, so it goes really well with the Prosecco in the Lillet Spritz.
Italicus liqueur has a bergamot flavor, which is the same citrus flavor as Earl Grey tea. The Italicus Spritz is a little bit different and super delicious!
You can mix your liqueurs, too! Try out this Cointreau spritz with elderflower liqueur.
Spritzes work really well in other months, too, not just summer! This Winter Aperol Spritz features cranberry and orange flavors.
Spritz Recipes with Other Spirits
Spritzes are typically very light, with just a liqueur and sparkling wine. But you can play around with adding different spirits like gin and vodka, too.

Setting up a Spritz Station
Since Spritzes are so versatile, you may want to consider setting up a Spritz station at your next summer party!
To set it up, all you have to do is get some bottles of Prosecco, some seltzer, and a few different liqueurs. Put all the bottles over ice, and make a sign for your guests so they know the ideal 3-2-1 Spritz ratio (Prosecco - liqueur - seltzer).
Prepare a few fresh herb and fruit garnishes for them to use, add some glasses and you're done. Voila, the perfect Spritz station!
