If you're a strawberry lover like me, this is going to be up in your favorite cocktails for sure! This Strawberry Lemon Martini has a fresh strawberry flavor that tastes amazing, and it's pretty easy to make too. The strawberries are definitely the star of the show here!

This is, in my opinion, a perfect Valentine's Day cocktail! For a cute garnish, I made a little heart out of a strawberry to give it a little extra love.

I think it would make a great girls night or Galentine's cocktail too!

    About the Strawberry Lemon Martini

This is kind of like a strawberry version of the Limoncello Martini or a Lemon Drop, but with a lot more fruit flavor!

I really wanted the strawberries to shine in this drink, so I not only used fresh strawberries, but a strawberry syrup too. That really gives it some nice body and a thicker mouth feel.

    Ingredients

There are only five ingredients in this tasty cocktail! For the base liquor, you'll need vodka. I used a citrus vodka, Absolut Citron, but you can use plain vodka too.

You'll also need some fresh strawberries (plus an extra for garnish!) and lemon juice.

For the sweet ingredients, you'll need limoncello liqueur and strawberry syrup. I used a store bought limoncello, but you can use homemade limoncello if you have it!

Try to find a strawberry syrup that has fruit puree, like Real Strawberry syrup or Liquid Alchemist strawberry syrup, for the best flavor. Or, you can use my Raspberry Syrup recipe and just sub in strawberries for a homemade version.

    Substitutions

Need to make some changes? Here are some substitution ideas!

For the vodka, try using a citrus gin like Malfy con Limone. Or, you can use a tequila or white rum.

You can swap out the limoncello and use an orange liqueur, like Triple Sec or Cointreau, in its place.

If you don't have the strawberry syrup, just use regular simple syrup instead. You can always add some more fresh strawberries when you muddle for more berry flavor.

    Equipment

To make this drink, you'll need a few specialty bar tools. These include a shaker & strainer, a muddler to smash up the strawberries, and a jigger to measure the liquids.

For the serving glass, a martini glass or a coupe glass both work great. Go for a stemmed glass since we are not serving over ice.

If you want to make the strawberry heart garnish shown, you'll also need a cocktail pick or a toothpick.

Note: If you need any new bar equipment, A Bar Above is the place to go! I love their shakers and strainers (and they're dishwasher safe!). Don't forget to grab 10% off using my discount code, LKDrinks.

    Instructions

If you want to make the strawberry heart garnish, start out by cutting one side off of a whole strawberry. Cut the top out in a v-shape so it looks like a heart, and then stick the cocktail pick through it. Set it aside while you make the drink.

For the drink itself, add your strawberry pieces to a cocktail shaker and use your muddler to smash them up.

Hand adding a cocktail pick through a heart-shaped strawberry piece.
Hand using a muddler to mash up strawberries in a cocktail shaker.

Once the berries are fully mashed, add in the lemon juice, and then the strawberry syrup.

Hand adding lemon juice to a cocktail shaker.
Hand adding strawberry syrup to a cocktail shaker.

Then, add in the limoncello and vodka.

Hand adding limoncello liqueur to a cocktail shaker.
Hand adding citrus vodka to a cocktail shaker.

Fill the shaker with ice and shake everything up well.

Hand adding ice to a cocktail shaker filled with red liquid.
    Hands shaking up a cocktail.

Strain the drink into the glass. Then, if you made the garnish, rest it on top of the glass. Serve and enjoy!

Hand straining a red cocktail into a ribbed, gold-rimmed coupe glass.
Hand adding a heart-shaped strawberry garnish to a red cocktail in a coupe glass.

Hint: If you can, chill your serving glass for about 30 minutes before making the drink. This will help keep it colder longer!

    Top tip

Want to make this even more decadent? Try dipping the rim of the glass in melted chocolate! This would be a great addition for a Valentine's Day cocktail!
